At home with Princess Marie of Denmark
On January 18, 2018, Princess Marie of Denmark hosted a very special food experience when she invited school children into her own home to cook, and to teach them about food waste. This happened as a part of the Princess' role as the patron for Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival which this year has chosen to focus on food waste as one of the main themes.
Partnering with Timm Vladimir, 10 children, and Selina Juul from the organisation "Stop Spild Af Mad" (stop the waste of food) Princess Marie created a tasty lunch of crooked beetroots, fallen apples from the garden, and carrot tops inspired by the no food waste theme.
The visiting children had been chosen among hundreds of children who had practiced their food skills at Arla's food camp in Helnæs in 2017. Together with Timm Vladimir Princess Marie put together a menu which they made in joint effort in the Princess' kitchen where the crooked beetroots and some potatoes were made into a delicious soup, the fallen garden apples were baked in the oven, and the carrot tops were used to make a tasty pesto.
